Mathis resigns, Burress on horizon?

It was starting to look the Eagles were gonna lose Evan Mathis to the Ravens, instead they signed last years starting left guard to a five year contract extension.  Mathis had a surprisingly good last season, and barring injury the Birds will have their starting offensive line back from last season.

In other news Nfl.com has a story up currently that states the Eagles are in contact with free agent wide reciever Plaxico Burress.  Burress stated publicly that he wants to play with the Eagles earlier in the offseason.  Micheal Vick struggled to get his legs back his first year out of prison.  If Burress is anything like the player he was before he went to prison we could be getting a serious weapon very cheap.  The Eagles need size in the redzone, and Burress is around 6'5".  Could be the perfect fit.

I believe the Eagles will make some noise this week.  The big money free agents are gone, meaning that this week is like bargain week in the NFL.  The birds can fill some serious holes on the team and not spend a whole lot at the same time.  Laron Laundry (ss), Mike Tolbert (rb), and London Fletcher (mlb), are the three names on this blogger's wishlist (other than the previously mentioned Burress).

Eagles Rout Cowboys 34-7 On Sunday Night Football

By JasonB of BleedingEagleGreen.com

The question as to whether the Eagles have "turned the corner" seems to have been answered. They were nearly flawless in a 34-7 rout of the hated Dallas Cowboys earning their second straight win and improving to 3-4 on the season. The Eagles followed up on their great defensive outing against the Redskins with an even more dominant performance against the Cowboys tonight. With two great showings against divisional opponents, it certainly seems as though the talent we all thought this defense had is starting to come together.
